When it may be said that a kennel "starts" its existing? With the dream of it, or maybe with the comming of the first dog... the delivering of the first litter... the registration...?
I'd still say it's the first litter that counts - when a person becomes not only a dog-owner, but a breeder. If so, then Vabank kennel is born 1993.
The "kennel", of course, became a true kennel few years after: even having 6 dogs I, Elena, wasn't thinking of them as a foundation... they were just a pack. But then, what else are all kennels than a happy pack of dogs?!

About us

1996 my family bought a house in a quite distant village and this was the moment my kennel was "founded" in real - I filled in an application for registration, which was approved by the clubs I participated then and so "Essenitsa" kennel was born. Under that name I have bred 4-5 litters.
1998 BRFC, our national federation, permited the breeders to register their kennels in FCI. The kennel name approved for me - Vabank - was a fruit of a tipist's mistake. The story is both funny and somehow frustrating, even 6 years after: we, Bulgarians, use the cyrillic alphabet, quite different from the latin one. This was the reason I carefully filled the application not only in cyrillic, but also with the latin reading of the three choosen by me names:

Imagine how surprized I was, when the approval form came and NONE of the three was spelled as I wanted!

How that can be, I still don't know. But FCI won't allow a name's change when it's already approved, and so I was forced to live with the one already chosed. Well, I kind of got used to it. And so here we are - the Vabank pack and me.
